Bow to the Queen: A Guide to Daily Living

I'd be the last person you'd come to for advice. However, for whatever it's worth, here is how I keep my "sanity" in tact.

1. In dealing with potential kings, keep them at arms' length to set boundaries but let them sniff your hair every once in a while to keep them interested. The good ones are those who stay through your good hair days and the bad ones.

2. If others can do it, let them. That way, you'll end up with more time to yourself to do other things. Gets you to accomplish more things with little time

3. If the shoe fits, wear it - as long as it looks good on you. Otherwise, people will be looking down at your shoes the entire time and completely miss out the beauty above.

4. When in doubt, ask - but not stupid questions. Yes, there are stupid questions, those that you ask without putting up an effort to know it on your own. It's lazy, unbecoming of a ruler.

5. Speak your mind through your eyes. Get things accomplished just by staring at people.

6. Never throw the first punch unless you are absolutely certain you can knock them out in a single blow. Otherwise, it's best to let attackers reveal their strategy. Study it carefully and retaliate when the enemy is at his/her weakest.

7. The first one to throw an insult is defeated by his/her own words when you ignore them. Insults will only bear the weight that you grant it.

8. A Queen is not a statue made of granite. She is a butterfly that is meant to be admired. So, be beautiful, look beautiful and feel beautiful but do it not for other people's admiration. Do it for yourself because inner beauty is what remains after all the makeup washes off.

9. Benevolence breeds loyalty, power quashes dissent and keeps subjects in line. Knowing when to be one or the other is the key to ruling a kingdom (queendom)

10. All the world's a stage and we are but mere performers. Since we are only as good as our last performance, make each one so memorable that anything less than impressive will only be seen as an isolated incident because they will always refer to the one before.

PS: At the end of the day, it is always your decision how to live your life. Never let others live it for you and neither should you take your future hostage for someone else. Your life is yours alone. Listen to the wisdom of elders and loved ones but never allow anyone to dictate you how to live your life. Learn how to compromise but do it from a standpoint where you have a definitive list of your non-negotiable(s).

with much love

xoxo
